LA Spanish Oasis

Embodying the true spirit of California indoor-outdoor living, this bright, inviting bungalow is beautifully unassuming from the 1925 Spanish-style exterior. Step inside, however, and the organic interior is a remedy for the senses, soothing the soul with a synergy of off-white shades and warm, earthy tones. Sustainable, natural materials such as linens, travertine, Venetian plaster, marble, and natural oak carry these hues throughout.

Working with a long-term client, our brief was to infuse the space with Japandi minimalism, combining the effortless simplicity of Japanese wabi sabi with the restraint of a neutral Scandinavian palette. Although we opted to keep most of the original architecture, no surface or fixture went unconsidered. A wall between the kitchen and dining room was removed, providing sight lines across the living spaces, and the principal bedroom was reimagined to include a large walk-in closet and direct access to the secluded saltwater pool oasis.
